What Travelling Taught me

Hey guys!!!!!

Look – no long drawn explainations needed. I’ve been caught up. I really hope you’ve been doing well and without any ado, here is what I learnt while travelling 🙂

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.You can never have enough tissues
Now, I know what you’re thinking – well, everyone knows that! But wait… the reason I’m saying this is because I’ve been in a few sticky situations already and it was a little too nasty to be true. Have a good stock of tissue – the normal kind and even wet tissues if youre willing. If nothing else, just bring them back but you will thank me and all your stars if you ever come across a situation or someone in a situation where those little pieces of paper or cloth can be life saving.
2. Get a map of the place before-hand
I know this is a little weird, but knowing exactly what the closest locations to the place where you are going to be accomodated, is a HUGE bonus that really helped me, especially while travelling alone. Using Google Maps and trying to have a fair idea of the locale can come in super-handy, as I learnt the hard way.
3. Look up people who blog or youtube about or from the place
The very fact that you are reading this is enough to know that you’re the kind that isn’t averse to blogs (or that I know you and am forcing you to read this – which I’m sure has a very “logical” explanation 😀 ) – which means that you can really get first-hand experiences and deets about the place you’re travelling to, from all the wonderful travel-bloggers we have all around us.
4. Know the dresscode
If you are travelling to a place which has a culture of taking dresscodes or certain styles of dressing seriously, knowing a little bit about the pros and cons of certain apparel or attire, will definitely go a long way in helping you stay in the good books of your host city or country.
5. Carry snacks to sustain yourself for a short while
While I hail from a place where going on a trip without food enough to sustain you for a week (even if your trip is only for a couple of days) is a thought most steer clear from, I know there are a lot of people who take a tad bit of time to get used to the “food-shock” as I like to call it, on going to a new place. So brace yourself and don’t regret!
6. Goggles are your besties
Even in the harshest winters, how hard can it be to keep a pair of shades in your carry-on purse?
The benefits, however, include: 1. Swag during impromtu photo-sessions 2. Looking glamourous, effortlessly, even indoors 3. Hiding dark-circles from the previous night’s adventures 4. Maybe a little protection from the sun – sometimes?
7. Some of the best times you’ve had are COMPLETELY unplanned
No explanation needed – but if you haven’t tried going on a completely impulsive walk in the middle of the night with a group of friends, you ARE missing out on Quite a bit, my friend!
8. Have atleast one person know of your whereabouts at all times
From the perspective of safety as well as having someone to call just in case you land up in trouble, keeping just one Reliable person aware of what you’re upto and where, is lets just say – Imperative.
9. Don’t forget to have a good time 😀
I know a lot of us travel for business, work, education and a whole lot of other reasons…. But no matter what the reason and where you’re off to – no matter how stressful the situation or how challenging the difficulty, remember to breathe, let go, enjoy the momnet and have fun. After all, that’s what you’ll look back at and smile about!
