What I learnt at the country’s biggest youth festival

Hello there, reader!

If you are a regular, welcome back… If you are new, Welcome!! 😀

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t know how often you see someone who is as hyper about things as I am – especially when it comes to attending, organising or being a part of various festivals. Having said that, it should come as no surprise to you therefore, that I was a regular attendee of the Under 25 Summit in Bangalore, held between 05 and 08 January… yup, that’s right of 2017.
If you don’t know about this or have never heard of it, I’d recommend going to their website (I’m not dumb – I’ll link it below) and figuring out how awesome they are. That most of the people involved are well-known in the college I attend, has nothing to do with how unique my experience was. But nonetheless, if you Don’t know about these folks, believe me, it’s high time you did (after reading my article, duh?!?)
People go to events for different reasons – for fun, to network, to meet new people… or even just to bunk college. And as you may guess, I won’t deny that I went for all of the aforementioned reasons.  But little did I know what I was in for when I was Literally there – at the several venues where the programs of the summit were being held. So without further ado, here is what I learnt at the country’s biggest youth festival…. the Under 25 Summit.
  1. Expect the Unexpected
    There are some things in life that you JUST cannot prepare yourself for… and by that, I mean things like sitting four feet away from a stage where some of the BIGGEST achievers in the nation (and by that I mean people who have international recognitions for their expertise) and writing a post-card to your future self {That’s gonna be my next post – don’t worry} in a digital world where the art of writing by itself is on the verge of extinction. Needless to say, you gotta jump in with both feet and having done it myself, I can proudly say “I am Under 25” (which B T W, is the catch-phrase of the event).
  2. NETWORK. Network. Net…you get the point
    Now, don’t get me wrong when I say this, but having moved around quite a bit when I was much younger, I’m someone who usually has no problem making acquaintances with people. I suppose that explains why at the end of this summit, I have a friend who is a professional golf player and YouTuber, a girl whom I made friends with when we screamed profanities (yup – the WORST kind) at a workshop we attended, friends who are at least 5 years elder to me – and of course, numerous others – all of whom I can’t and obviously don’t want to mention here XD
    The point of telling you that? Just to remind you how EPIC it feels to make new friends and get to know the different kinds of amazing people there are on the planet. That’s all!
  3. You’ll NEVER know where or when you find inspiration!
    I’m pretty sure you saw this coming, but I KNOW a lot of people who take H O U R S just deciding what to wear – a k a ME. But the four days I was a part of the U25 for (PS – that’s what we’re calling it henceforth here, ok?), I swear the clothes I was in was the least of my worries. While I wore a range of bizarre apparel (surprise!!! 😛 ) I found SO much of inspiration for trying out different ways to permute and combine the clothing and accessories I already own, that I have enough content to be posting out here for a good two months. There – you’re welcome. 😀
  4. And Last but Not the Least
I know the alignment is all wonky here, but I simply HAD to do it for the emphasis (guilty!)
The biggest lesson I learnt at the U25 – is simply that we are all always so caught up in the process of achieving our goals; goals set for us either by a psyche influenced by others or others themselves… and whether we like it or not, we get into a constant drone of things that make us feel lost over a period of time. That said, what I inferred out of this realisation that there are SOOO many people out there who:
a) Are Just like us
b) Need someone Just like us – in various projects, initiatives and endeavours that could potentially make the world a better place, for ALL of us. And if we can have fun along the way, then there should be no (and by that I mean simply NO) reason why we shouldn’t be doing what we love doing – for the constructive progress of the larger picture.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Having said a whole bunch of stuff and a great set of four SUPERB days at the U25 this year, I can say with certainty that I had a hella lotta fun and learnt a hella bunch of stuff I didn’t know {Spoken Poetry, anyone?}. There are more subtle things I learnt too, but that’s a chat for another day.

Hope you liked this post folks! If you did, or agree with any of the lessons I learnt at the Under 25 Summit 2017, leave me a like and in the comments let me know what you’ve gotten to learn at the events you have attended. Until next time with a new adventure!

Women’s Perfumes worth trying

Hey Hey Hey!

After the previous post titled ‘Men’s Perfumes Worth Trying’, a lot of people wrote back to me saying that they liked the post, and that they wanted something similar among women’s perfumes.

So without further ado, here we go:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  1. Ralph Lauren – Polo Blue for Womenpolo-blue-women
    Jasmine flowers meet honey and maybe something a little musky? That’s RL’s Polo Blue for Women for you. A perfume that makes you remember soft, warm, happy memories, it was rather sad that the company decided to withdraw the scent. You can, however, still get similar scents if you search online!
  2. Versace – Bright Crystal
    versace-bright-crystal
    Sometimes, you just take a whiff of a scent and no matter where you are, you get transported into another world altogether. For me, one such perfume is Versace’s Bright Crystal. It reminds me of a very powerful, strong woman’s approach, rather than that of a delicate darling. A must try, especially on days when you feel like the go-getter you are! 🙂
  3. Michael Kors – Rose Radiant Gold & Sexy Amber
    Have I ever told you of my slight (and by that I mean Complete!!) obsession for all things Michael Kors, it just proves that my attempts at getting over the awesomeness of the brand, have been commendable. But now that I am telling you about it, these scents Definitely deserve to be checked out, the very next time when you have the chance!
    mk-radiant-rose-gold
    If I were to describe the scent to you, I’d call the Rose Radiant Gold a borderline delicate scent – something that you’d wear to the wedding of the classmate who was probably mean to you all through high-school. That is to say, the scent is delicate where it needs to be – but it certainly has its Powerful undertones that says “no nonsense accepted here” 😀
    MK Sexy Amber.jpg
    As for Sexy Amber, I am yet to smell a perfume that has the perfect balance of musk and amber – but OH GODS! This one comes Very very close to what I imagine to be the perfect blend of sweetness and woody-elements. If I didn’t love trying perfumes so much and needed to settle down with 3 perfumes only, this would Definitely be one of them.
  4. United Colours of Benetton – Paradisouob-paradiso
    Another classic scent that makes you go all starry eyed, I was genuinely heart-broken when UOB decided to withdraw this perfume. This was the Ultimate blend of flowery, fruity, fresh and woody components, and by far, the highest longevity that I’ve gotten to experience with ANY perfume.
    Unfortunately for me, I have never been able to find a similar aroma yet – but if you do know, pleaaaase let me know too!!
  5. Calvin Klein – Eternity for Women ck-eternity
    Aaah… the ever wonderful range of Calvin Klein Scents! While I do love almost all their perfumes, I am and will forever be a little biased towards their original ‘Eternity’ – for both, men and women.
    This is the kind of perfume you’d want to associate with your caregiver. By that, I don’t necessarily mean your Mama or your Nanny… what I do intend to mean is that this is a very soothing, very comforting scent that would probably even toddlers associate with safety and care. So if you’re feeling like your loving, caring self – a little more so on some days – then you NEED a bottle of Eternity for women in your perfume collection.
  6. Davidoff Coolwater – Sea Rose
    dc-sea-rose
    True to its name, the first time you smell this perfume, it feels like these two uncanny elements – the sea and the rose – have always had an association. Gently balanced between the freshness of the sea and the subtle power of the rose, this perfume is best suited for days out with your girl friends or a loved one. But on the other hand, this is not an evening perfume at all – unless you’ve run out of all your other perfumes, of course! 😀
  7. Giorgio Armani – Si
    ga-si
    This is the perfume that has earned me the most number of compliments from people across the bench! People of all ages have smelled my perfume when they lean in for a hug or sit close to me, taken a deep breath and gone “woooow!”
    When I first smelled this perfume, I remember not liking it.. but a few minutes after I left the store, I needed to correct my hair and when my hand swept past my face, I remember thinking “Oh My Goodness! I smell like candy – without smelling like something to eat!” What followed of course, was me running back to the store and buying one of these and voila! I’ve been showered in compliments ever since.
    The Armani – Si, is your goody-two-shoes meets girl-boss. Soft and gentle, yet knows what she wants. Pretty much, I’d say the perfume is one of the best I’ve tried among women’s perfumes, ever.
Smile a Little More maybe? :)
Hello there!
What I have to say to you today is something that came out of a very random conversation with someone today. I thought it was important to share this with all my readers, because it was something that made me think too. Therefore, here goes….
Given the festive season and the number of people we all have to interact with on a daily basis, one of the casual topics we are often engaged in, starts with – “So, what do you do with your spare time?”
Now, whether you like it or not, you do come up with a list of things you do. And in my case, when I mention the phrase “Fashion Blogger” I usually get a whole range of reactions, from joy to excitement to judgement. Well, this time though, the person I was conversing with immediately went “Oh wow! Can you tell me the quickest way to become pretty?”
Obviously, I got out of the conversation – but somehow, the question got me thinking…. Why is it that people feel the need for an instant solution to “look pretty”, as the asker put it. But even worse, what can I, as a person – tell them in response to this?
Well, I realised that the person who asked me this is just another person who has just forgotten to smile over time. Sure there are a lot of things you can do and a lot of methods you can adopt, to become more attractive in society’s view. But what makes the difference? A lot of little things, but most importantly, your smile.
So, I suppose my answer here is simple – No matter what you look like; no matter what you’re wearing; no matter where you are; no matter whom you’re with.. flashing a genuine smile, internally and, or externally – is indeed the best way to look “prettier”, instantly. Not going into too much detail about the ‘benefits of smiling’ (because I know a lot of people have already written and spoken about that!) here’s hoping that you find more reasons to smile more often.
Until we meet again!
The Basics of Heels
Hello there! 🙂
If you’re new to my blog, Welcome! And if you’re a regular reader, welcome back! Now, if you’re anyone who knows me even remotely, you’ll know how fond I am of wearing and admiring heels. That said I know a lot of people who need either info about or a refresher in the kinds of heels there are. However, before getting into the deets though, I promise you, dear reader that this is no rocket science . So, with no further fuss – let’s get straight to it 😀
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Stilettos classic-stilettos

There’s a reason why they’re classic – these super genius creations can be worn for any
occassion, with any clothes and they’ll just be perfect. If you don’t own a comfortable pair of these beauties yet, I’m sorry! Stop reading this (Right Now!!!!!!), and go get yourself a pair.

(PS: So long as you’re not being too bold in your choice of colour based on the occassion, these are pretty much the safest bet there can be 🙂 )

2. Peeptoes peeptoe-stilettos

Well, while your Stillettos say “I mean business” like no other shoes, for relatively more laid-back-yet-serious approaches, Peeptoes are your BFFs. Of course, this is not the main reason why you should wear Peeptoes! The main reason? Showing off your UUUUUber-Fabulous pedicure, of course!!

Peeptoes come in all shapes, sizes, textures, colours and levels of comfort. Take a pick and voila! You’re ready to take on the world!! 🙂

3.  Wedges wedges

Can’t afford to take the risk of pointy heels that ring the knells of terror (especially for people like me), owing to unpredictable or bad terrain, a hella lotta walking or both, besides unforeseeable circumstances?

Don’t worry – you can rely on wedges to sail your way right through! Being flat, these babies not only protect you from the dangers of twisting your foot in the case of a mishap, these are also relatively easier on your back! Available in any type and range to suit your need, not having a good pair of wedges is almost as bad as not eating chocolate 😛

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So there you go folks! Back to the basics of heels. Hope this helps! 🙂
If you’d like to know more about the history of heels and iconic moments within the niche of fashion footwear, either let me know in the comments below; or email me at teenxadventurer@gmail.com.
To know more about the do’s and don’ts of wearing heels, stay tuned – the post should come around sometime soon.
What Travelling Taught me
Hey guys!!!!!
Look – no long drawn explainations needed. I’ve been caught up. I really hope you’ve been doing well and without any ado, here is what I learnt while travelling 🙂
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1.You can never have enough tissues

Now, I know what you’re thinking – well, everyone knows that! But wait… the reason I’m saying this is because I’ve been in a few sticky situations already and it was a little too nasty to be true. Have a good stock of tissue – the normal kind and even wet tissues if youre willing. If nothing else, just bring them back but you will thank me and all your stars if you ever come across a situation or someone in a situation where those little pieces of paper or cloth can be life saving.

2. Get a map of the place before-hand

I know this is a little weird, but knowing exactly what the closest locations to the place where you are going to be accomodated, is a HUGE bonus that really helped me, especially while travelling alone. Using Google Maps and trying to have a fair idea of the locale can come in super-handy, as I learnt the hard way.

3. Look up people who blog or youtube about or from the place

The very fact that you are reading this is enough to know that you’re the kind that isn’t averse to blogs (or that I know you and am forcing you to read this – which I’m sure has a very “logical” explanation 😀 ) – which means that you can really get first-hand experiences and deets about the place you’re travelling to, from all the wonderful travel-bloggers we have all around us.

4. Know the dresscode

If you are travelling to a place which has a culture of taking dresscodes or certain styles of dressing seriously, knowing a little bit about the pros and cons of certain apparel or attire, will definitely go a long way in helping you stay in the good books of your host city or country.

5. Carry snacks to sustain yourself for a short while

While I hail from a place where going on a trip without food enough to sustain you for a week (even if your trip is only for a couple of days) is a thought most steer clear from, I know there are a lot of people who take a tad bit of time to get used to the “food-shock” as I like to call it, on going to a new place. So brace yourself and don’t regret!

6. Goggles are your besties

Even in the harshest winters, how hard can it be to keep a pair of shades in your carry-on purse?
The benefits, however, include: 1. Swag during impromtu photo-sessions 2. Looking glamourous, effortlessly, even indoors 3. Hiding dark-circles from the previous night’s adventures 4. Maybe a little protection from the sun – sometimes?

7. Some of the best times you’ve had are COMPLETELY unplanned

No explanation needed – but if you haven’t tried going on a completely impulsive walk in the middle of the night with a group of friends, you ARE missing out on Quite a bit, my friend!

8. Have atleast one person know of your whereabouts at all times

From the perspective of safety as well as having someone to call just in case you land up in trouble, keeping just one Reliable person aware of what you’re upto and where, is lets just say – Imperative.

9. Don’t forget to have a good time 😀

I know a lot of us travel for business, work, education and a whole lot of other reasons…. But no matter what the reason and where you’re off to – no matter how stressful the situation or how challenging the difficulty, remember to breathe, let go, enjoy the momnet and have fun. After all, that’s what you’ll look back at and smile about!

Colour Blocking

For the bold People We are.
For the bold People We are.

When it comes to this one area, I personally know a lot of people who are highly skeptical and very hesitant to experiment.

Without boring you with a history lesson, if I were to tell you about how this concept came about, it would simply be that:

Interesting people like us, felt the need to break out of the “norms” imposed on fashion, and therefore, went on to incorporate a pop of colour into their everyday styles!

Basically, colour blocking is the process of using or teaming two or more strong, contrasting colours in your combination to voila! get an awesome new design or combo or outfit.  Besides that image I found on Google, given up there ^, here are a few of my personal favourites. Hope you like them. 🙂

Here you go : 😀

clr blckng 02
clr blckng 06 clr blckng 05

clr blckng 04

clr blckng 07
I know you can’t really read that; but the colour rings are what matter

Though there is no end to the number of combinations you can try out in ‘Colour Blocking’, there are just a few of my personal favourites. So fear not, go on and wear what you think looks great, because

If You do, Others Will Too!

Let me know if this was helpful and if there’s anything particular you want to see from my end. 🙂

Also, stay tuned for the next post, and until then,

Keep Calm and Be Fashionable
